And of course, legendary weaponry as well, such as the Shield of Chronos, the Coral Saber, etc. And by now, Zelda is absolutely no strange to the merging of advanced tech with magic. the peashooter or the Caster Gun), even robots. It has some enemies that are similar to certain Zelda staples (Goblins, birds, catcus things, etc), there's both magic and advanced technology, such as Oceanhorn itself, firearms (i.e. Much of the world's history seems to be unknown even in the games, which reminds me of how the world was flooded in WW and Hyrule faded into legend. There's a race of bird folk (the Owrus), and sea folk too (Gillfolk), and they worship three gods/goddesses (the term is interchangeable), each having a colored symbol (though the symbols are identical in design). The Hero wears blue (like the WW Outset Tunic or the Champion's Tunic), the games have a big emphasis on seafaring (though it's on rails in 1, not in 2 but it's like a minimap, similar to sea travel in Dragon Quest XI). The games are quite clearly Wind Waker inspired (plus ALTTP and BOTW, if you take a look at Oceanhorn 2 and read Cornfox's dev blog).
Oceanhorn 2 bloodstone locations series#
I still headcanon the Oceanhorn series as being part of the Zelda universe, and not in some bubble that has no reason to exist (I will always be salty about that in regards to a favorite spinoff). TLDR: The Composer Brothers were the first composer's of the Song of Storms and they sent memories of the song back in time to ensure Link had access to the lens of truth.īring back an old one of mine due to regained relevance. I have a theory about how each time Link travels to the past he is actually entering a new alternate timeline, but I won't get into that here. The Windmill Guy however mistakes the vision as actual memories and when triggered at the sight of Link teaches him the song. (A message sent because the Composer Brothers knew they would not live long enough to write it and teach it to Link.) Simultaneously helping Link on his quest and preserving the song after their death. Who also received vision of his alternate future self learning the Song of Storms. This including the Composer Brothers themselves who willingly gave their lives to protect their songs and magic.Įnter the Windmill guy. Each instinctively not trusting Ganondorf.
Zelda claims to have these dreams too and although we get no direct confirmation from the sages, They too show signs of having been given some kind of future warning. Scenes that I believe are clips of a failed future. We are shown Link having powerful nightmares of foreboding events. The brothers decided to also send messages to other key players in the past which would reveal themselves at a time they felt was a crucial turning point.
When Link is defeated, I think Zelda requested help from the Composer Brothers to send a message to her past self. DT Link then plays it for the Windmill Guy in his own timeline for the first time to drain the well and obtain the lens of truth. DT child Link meets them as they are still alive and they provide him with the Song of Storms. They continue to live and as a result continue to compose even more music, including the Song of Storms. I've head cannon'd that the original composer's were the Composer Brothers who taught it to the defeated Link from the downfall timeline.īut that's because I believe DT was an alternate journey in more ways than just Link losing in the final battle.ĭT Zelda and Link never have a prophetic dream about Ganondorf, and likewise, the Composer Brothers trust Ganondorf enough to provide their secret Sun song to him.
